This report focuses on the most popular NZ news websites and examines their visibility online, as well as their traffic patterns. In an increasingly competitive environment, we examine just which websites are capturing the public’s seemingly insatiable demand for news and information.

Our results show that out of the leading New Zealand news websites:

• NZHerald.co.nz has the greatest natural search engine visibility
• Stuff.co.nz is leading in the paid search engine results
• Very few websites are paying for search engine positions
• The number of news related searches is at its highest ever level
